Ingredients
amaranthus 4 bunches
red gram dal 1 cup
tomatoes 2
tamarind 4 flakes
onion 1
green chillies 3
turmeric 1/4 spoon
salt to taste
red chillie powder 1 spoon
oil 2 spoons
ghee 1 spoon
mustard seeds 1/4 spoon
cumin seeds 1/4 spoon
garlic cloves 10
dry chillies 2
curry leaves some
Method
clean the vegetables
soak red gram dal in water for 30 minutes to avoid gastric problems.because soaked dal easy to digest.
there is also one benefit that soaking dal helps to prepare recipe quickly.
cut thotakura into pieces(you can cut stem also).
cut onion,tomatoes and green chillies into pieces.
1.after soaking the dal cook in a pressure cooker until 3 to 4 whistles come.
2. take a vessel and add thotakura pieces,tomato pieces ,onion pieces,green chillies pieces,turmeric, tamarind and water.cook for some time (15 minutes).
3. mash the cooked dal after open the cooker.(donot try to open the cooker lid forcely with out steam coming out completly ).
4.then add mashed dal and mix all very well.cook for a while.
5.then add salt and red chilli powder.
6.when tomatoes and thotakura cooked well . taste the dal ,if salt is enough or not.if not add salt.put off the flame.
7.heat oil in a pan.cut dry chillies into two pieces.
8.after heating the pan add mustard seeds.when began to splutter add garlic cloves,dry chilles,cumin seeds.
9.fry until garlic cloves become into dark colour.
10.add asafoetida and curry leaves.put off the flame.
11. add thotakura pappu and mix all very well.
