Ingredients
rava(suji) | 1 cup |

oil | 2 spoons |
mustard seeds | 1/4 spoon |
urad dal | 1/4 spoon |
chana dal | 1/4 spoon |
cashew nuts | 5 |

onion | 1 |
green chillies | 3 |
ginger | 1 inch piece |
tomatoes | 2 |
salt | to taste |
water | 3 cups |
termaric | pinch |
1.pour one spoon of oil in a pan and heat it.
2.after heating the oil add ghee .
3.when the ghee is melted add suji and fry for a while on low flame(nearly 5 to 8 minutes) .
4.stir often while fry the suji.don't leave to change the colour of suji.frying suji in high flame can chage the colour(brown colour).so donot put high flame .low or medium flame is better to fry.
5.some people do not know about frying suji before preparing upma.
6. fried suji helps to avoids lumps when adding suji in the water.so donot forget to fry suji before preparing upma.frying in the ghee increases the taste of upma and gives good smell that helps to taste the kids willingly .
7. chope onions into long pieces and green chillies into small pieces.
8.peel the ginger and clean with water then cut into small pieces.
9.cut tomatoes into medium size pieces.each tomato can cut into 5 to 6 pieces.
10.heat oil in a pan.add mustard seeds.
11.when mustard seeds start to crackling add urad dal and chana dal.
12.when dals become to light brown colour add cashew nuts and fry until cashews become light golden colour.
13.then add ginger and green chilli pieces and fry for one minute
15.next add curry leaves.then add onions and fry until become into light brown colour .
16.add tomato pieces stir well and fry for 3 minutes.
17.add turmeric .
18.when tomatoes become soft add water.
19.add salt also.after adding the salt stir well and taste the water.
20.if water is salty then salt is enough.if water is not salty add some more salt .you can add salt after adding suji also.
21.when water is boiling add suji.
22.while adding the suji stir continously.add rava slowly into water to avoid lumps.
23.after adding the rava stir well and keep the lid .
24.cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
25.if rava become soft put off the flame .serve hot.eat this upma with coconut chutney or tomato chutney or lemon pickle.
